A recent article in Wireless Design and Development magazine highlights the benefits of powering wireless transmitters with thermal energy harvesting, which can extend wireless beyond traditional process control and monitor more process variables without battery life impact. Referred to as Pervasive Sensing, key drivers include wireless connectivity, self-powered transmitters, self-calibration, non-intrusiveness, and maintenance-free devices.
